Genealogy used to be about text on paper. For many it still is. But over the years our options have expanded considerably...

-- Personal computers made desktop publishing possible.
-- Scanners made the inclusion of old photos cost effective.
-- Digital cameras made taking new photos easier and cheaper.
-- Genealogy software made organization and sourcing easier.
-- Adobe Reader allows publishing digitally to CDs or the Internet.
-- And if you're publishing digitally, why not include audio?

Just a quarter century ago, few could have imagined publishing family histories in color, on discs, over the Internet, complete with audio recordings of family members.

Today we can carry that even further...

We can videotape interviews with family members then distribute the video for mere pennies on videotape, CDs, DVDs or the Internet.

Visiting the old family homestead? Take your camcorder along so other family members not as likely to get there can share your impressions.

Sitting on your great-grandfather's will, your grandmother's quilt, or living close to their tombstones? Videotape them for cousins living elsewhere and future generations who may not have such easy access.

Why not videotape the oldest living family members sharing their memories and biography before they pass away? Why stop at one or even a few? People who will never commit their autobiography to paper, can be convinced to sit for a video taped interview.

Attending a family gathering, reunion or Christmas party? Take your camcorder along.
