1924 Citizen of Simcoe, Ontario |
Senator Alexander McCall "Born at Charlotteville, Norfolk County, son of David McCall and Harriett Mann, and great-grandson of Donald McCall, a Scotch soldier who was engaged at the capture of Quebec under General Wolfe. Afterwards fought through the Amercian Revolutionary War, and in 1794 came to Norfolk County with the United Empire Loyalists, and settled near Vittoria. In 1872, Senator McCall married Sarah MacInnes, daughter of Andrew MacInnes of Vittoria, and formerly of Aberfoyle, Scotland. At an early age he entered into the lumber business and followed it successfully until recently. In 1908 he was elected Conservative representative for the County of Norfolk to the House of Commons, and in 1913 was called to the Senate of Canada."
