Colonel Thomas Robert Atkinson "Born Ancaster Township, August 24th, 1855. Learned stone cutting, was foreman of McCoombs Works, Hamilton, for a time. Brought the business of Samuel Gardner, Simcoe, about 1874. Studied late in life at Simcoe High School and Queen's University. Received degree of L.L.B. and was called to the bar. Unsuccessful Liberal candidate in South Norfolk in 1900. Elected member of Parliament in 1905, for North Norfolk. Defeated in 1908. Elected again in 1911, and sat until 1919. Mayor of Simcoe 1895-1896. Commanded 29th Battalion, Norfolk Rifles 1902-1908. Past D.D.G.M. Wilson District." Also see: |
