A lightly edited transcription of the Local Interest column on page 12 of the 30 May 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

The Hand Hills (Alberta) Echo records the death of 
John Hamilton Gilbert, who was laid to rest in the 
Delta Cemetery on Sunday, 14 Apr 1918.

Deceased was born in Norfolk County in Feb 1878, 
a son of the late William Gilbert of Windham. Fifteen years ago he married Miss Nellie Goodlet, of Nixon.

In 1908 he settled at Hand Hills and is described as 
being one of the pioneers of that district.

His death took place very suddenly of heart failure, 
while he was engaged in hitching up a team at the 
home of his brother, Charles W. Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife and two little girls, 
aged eight and eleven years, and by four brothers 
and two  sisters.

The brothers are Charles, at whose home he died, 
and Robert, Jacob and Bruce of Windham. 
The sisters are Mrs. Wm. Whitehead and 
Mrs. Roy Boughner.
