Herbert
J. Hause
Herbert J. Hause,
63, formerly of Simcoe, died Thursday at the Port Dover Nursing Home.
Born in Waterloo, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Hause. He came to Simcoe in 1929 and was employed by the American Can
Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1966.
Mr. Hause was a
past president and life member of the Norfolk Agricultural Society and
the Simcoe Who-Did-It Club, life member of Unit 255, Army, Navy and
Air Force, past member of the Simcoe Kinsmen Club, former member of
Simcoe Town Council and one-time chairman of the police committee of
council.
In his younger
days, Mr. Hause played hockey here and managed the Simcoe Gunners when
they won the OHA Intermediate A championship in 1952-53.
He also
coached local hockey teams and played with Cancos and other teams in
the Simcoe Softball League and in OASA competition.
For a number of
years he was active in the Norfolk [Poultry] and Pet Stock
Association.
Besides his wife,
the former Ariel E. Horton, he is survived by a son, Larry, Port
Stanley; two brothers, Thomas, Kitchener, and Carl, California; and
two grandchildren.
Mr. Ause will be
at the Marvyn M. Veale Funeral Home from Saturday. Prayers will be
said Sunday at 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Service will be held at St.
Mary's Church on Monday at 10 a.m. Rev. S. J. McDonald will officiate
and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
