"Born in Devonshire, Eng., 1855. Came to Simcoe in 1882.  For 40 years leader of the 39th Regimental Band.  Had charge of massed bands at Tercentenary of Quebec 1908, and at Camp Borden during the Great War. Wholesale liquor dealer for 30 years."
