At the author’s request, Mrs. Harris, in June, 1879, brought down her recollections to the close of the war of 1812-15. The following pages are the result — written by Mrs. Harris twenty years after writing the previous memorandum, in the eighty-first year of her age, containing some interesting particulars of the war, and stating the cause of the loss of the British fleet on Lake Erie, and the disasters which followed. The author has not seen cause to alter a sentence or a word of Mrs. Harris’ manuscript, written by herself in a clear, bold hand, notwithstanding her advanced age.
