From the 11 Jun 1951 Simcoe Reformer:
"Elgin Avenue and North School advanced to the finals for Bantam honours in the Simcoe Schoolboy Softball playoffs ... The semi-finals saw Elgin Ave. take South 13-5 with North defeating St. Mary's 12-5 ... Doug Langford hurled Elgin Ave. to victory ... Doug fanned 13 ... Nelson Pottruff, who did a smart job of receiving Langford's slants was the only Elgin Ave. batter to get more than one hit. John Rowbottom and John Johnson each contributed a double."

From the 18 Jun 1951 Simcoe Reformer:
"Ten innings were required before the Schoolboy Bantam championship was decided at Wellington Park. Elgin Ave. pushing over two runs in the last half of the extra frame to edge North School 12-11 and take the title and the H. R. Crabb trophy. Doug Langford was the winning hurler ... McGhie collected three hits for Elgin. Rowbottom had a triple and double."
