before a defeat. From

Reformer:
"Roxy's Reformer Cubs take Group title ... Defeat Hagersville by Wide
Margin ... win round 10-4 ... Harry Atherton, netminder for Cubs, played
one of his best games of the season, but so also did the iron defencemen
Don Ryerse and Jack Baskerville.." From

Reformer:
"Cubs 4-2 win eliminates Thorold. Wood get pair. Ryerse, Ferris one
apiece. Roxy's Reformer Cubs rode roughshod over a determined Thorold crew
to eliminate the Mounties and move up another notch in their drive for
Provincial honors."
In a special
edition 11 Mar 1938 "The Reformer Cublet" said:
"Orangeville lose first contest of semi-final round. Two goals by
Wood pace Cubs 3-1 victory last night ... work of Atherton in Simcoe nets
sensational."

the 17 Mar 1938 Simcoe Reformer:
"Orangeville ties round with 5-3 victory ... Cubs suffer first defeat
in 18 games as Greenshirts impress before big home crowd ... more than
1,700 thrill-racked fans saw the Cubs and Greenshirts battle through sixty
minutes of wide open hockey."

the 21 Mar 1938 Simcoe Reformer:
"Cubs finally bow to Orangeville. Simcoe sextet is eliminated from
O.H.A. playdowns. Greenshirts show decided margin in third game to give
Roxy's gang their whitewash ... crowd sets season's record for Kitchener
Arena. Roxy's Reformer Cubs made a gallant last stand before more than
2,000 spectators."
