"Penalty Shot Gives Simcoe Group Title ... Edith Weaver scores basket
only minute before game ends ... a penalty shot by Edith Weaver, less than
30 seconds before the end of the game, gave the S.H.S. Girls basketball
team the winning point in the final game in the WOSSA schedule here on
Monday to defeat Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate by a score of 16-14." From
the 18 Mar 1937 Simcoe Reformer:
"S.H.S. Girls Eliminated By London -- Simcoe cagers lose by 16 points
on round in WOSSA series ... Isabel Blume and Irene Gettas gathered all
the Simcoe points ... it is the first time in the history of the school
that S.H.S. has had a basketball team go through to the WOSSA semi-finals."
