One of Windham's better baseball teams had a bad day when it met Simcoe in
the finals for the Norfolk County title...
From the 31 Aug 1922 Simcoe
Reformer:
"Simcoe wins County Championship for third successive season.
Whitewashed Whindham 11-0. Windham played with Simcoe here [Simcoe] on
Thursday last. Nearly 500 fans witnessed the fray which developed into a
complete rout [before] umpire Jackson called the game in the 8th inning on
account of darkness. It was great day for the locals who played airtight
ball in the field and ounded the ball viciously. But most of all for
Mickey McSloy, the big Simcoe moundsman, who let the widely heralded
Windham sluggers down with five hits and scored his first shutout of the
season.."
