Robert Jaques Identified 8 Oct 2009 by Lenore (Ross) Gibbons Confirmer 12 Oct 2013 by his sister Norma Courtemanche From Norma: Born in Edmonton in 1930, Bob came to Simcoe High from Grande Prairie, Alberta. He lived in St. Williams where his parents had a small hotel and lunch counter frequented, mainly because of Bob's personality. A very happy spirit, he whistled while he worked! Bob did alright in school but his loves were sports and fun! He was on the football team and participated in many field day events. Later he trained at the Hornsby school of baseball in Arkansas. On leave from training with a team in Florida, he injured his back, ending his career before it began! He married, had five children, became manager of Canada Dry for Canada. He was offered a good position with company in New York, but refused because he didn't think it would be good for his family. My mentor, my brother, Bob died in Mississauga in his 64th year, the eldest person until then diagnosed with osteosarcoma. |
