From Dorothy: Who needs the number, since there was no one else in the school
with my skin tones. I still have a sense of humor, and often tell stories that when I got caught doing something wrong I could never say it wasn't
me.
I married Joseph Lykes II and moved to Niagara Falls, N.Y., in 1950. My husband died in 1962 he was 36 years old. I have
two children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
I was ordained as a Salvation Officer in 1970 and transferred to Cleveland, Ohio in 1975. I retired from active ministry in 1996 but could
not just stay home, so I am the commanding officer of the New Hope Corps at
the Harbor Light Complex in Cleveland.
The years have been kind to me and I still drive. I live in a small town called Wickliffe,
Ohio, 16 miles east of Cleveland with my daughter and her three teenage
daughters. My son lives in California and I just returned from a visit. One of my
grand- daughters was selected to represent the SArmy in the Rose Bowl parade
so I got to chaperone three teenagers and visit my son. Years ago I claimed Proverbs 3:5-6 as my life line.
Works for me.
What fun it was to look at the old school photos. Just wanted you to know I am alive and well and learning everyday
how fortunate I am to have friends like Jay and
Irene who keep me posted on the happenings around Simcoe,
and open their home and hearts to me when I come home from time to time.
