From Raymond Canon on 3 Sep 2005: Eldon Ray's last position 
before he retired was as Superintendent of Schools in 
Peterborough and district. After he retired there my wife and I 
visited him once on our way to Ottawa. He asked about quite a 
few students at SHS and told us that the first year he was there 
he was one of only two teachers to get a raise. In his case it was 
for $100 because he got married. Salaries were ridiculously low 
at that time. I had him for Grade 9, 10 History and as Grade 9 
Home Form teacher.
