| A
life-long resident and long-time merchant of Vittoria, James Henry
was known locally as Jim Hank. He married Ruth, a daughter of
arguably Vittoria's best known merchant, Peter E. Young. Ruth, who
was deaf in later years and carried a slate so people could write
messages to her, purchased her father's business from his estate
following his death. Jim died of injuries received in a horse-drawn
buggy accident which threw him against a telephone poll. Ruth
subsequently spent time living with her daughters, and died at
Jessie's home. |
