H.M.
graduated Osgood Hall in Toronto as a lawyer after serving in WWI, but didn't practice. He
joined his brother Bill and father in the family business, J. B. Jackson
Ltd. as plant manager, taking over business operations after Bill died. He became partner in his wife's brother-in-law Fred. Ross' St. Williams
Preservers Ltd. and eventually bought out Fred's widow. A life-long staunch
Presbyterian and
a charter member of
Simcoe's first Rotary Club, he served on the Norfolk General
Hospital's Board of Governors for a quarter century. He lived his entire life in the house
his father built at 153 Union Street, Simcoe. Harold and Jean bought the West and Peachey cottages
in Port Ryerse in 1926 and 1932, and summered there the rest of their lives.
