          After
two years as deputy registrar of Norfolk County, Will taught in
Woodstock for a couple of years and with Simcoe friend Alver Dobson
went to Mexico City where they engaged in "mercantile
business" according to his Simcoe Reformer
obituary.  Between 1905-1912 he was Canadian Trade Commissioner
to Mexico. After 12 years in business in New York he and his wife
retired to Simcoe, purchasing the old Mulkins' house at 109 Norfolk
Street South. Upon their return to Simcoe Eva took an active
interest in one of her brother-in-law Hal's pet projects, the Norfolk
Historical Society. At her death, Eva, an amateur artist, left
their home to the Town of Simcoe to be used as a museum of history
and art bearing her name. The town accepted, and asked the Society
to operate the museum, which it has ever since. No issue. |
