It is a pleasure to
welcome back The Monocle, as one of our leading extra-curricular
activities after an absence of two years.
The Monocle Staff and
the students are to be congratulated on the publication of this
edition. The continued growth of our school population should make
the production of The Monocle an annual effort.
Every year some advance in
our educational program is planned. The past year has seen the
introduction of two new courses of study.
A class in Grade 10 was
started on a commercial course, which will continue through Grades
11 and 12. This course is exactly the same as that provided by
Commercial High Schools in larger centres.
For the first time Grade 9 was offered a course in instrumental
music, which will extend throughout Grades 10, 11 and 12. Judging
by the enthusiasm of the students, these courses were well
received and should become well established in a few years.
At this time of year many
students are looking forward to graduation in June and to going
into industry or on to further studies.
May I extend to them my
best wishes for graduation and success in their chosen endeavors.
