Rick Danko: Audio Clips

Norfolk County native Rick Danko sang lead and played bass, violin, trombone, etc., in a quintet of musicians called The Band -- a group       that Eric Clapton said "changed popular music forever."

The Band's music was historical country rock, mixed with gospel and blues, played by five veteran jazz musicians, including three lead vocalists, who collectively played almost two dozen instruments. To fully appreciate the music you have to listen to the CDs or at least rent The Last Waltz video, now available on DVD. The Windows Media Player-compatible 30-second MP3 clips below, provide few of The Band's legendary hooks or trademark mid-song surprises. They merely overview a few of the songs that are the group's legacy.
