Nelles-Williamson

On 18 Apr 1921, at high noon, one of the most charming weddings of the year took place at St. Paul's Church in Simcoe, when Marjorie, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Williamson, became the bride of Douglas Nelles, youngest son of Mr. Nelles and the late T. R. Nelles.

At the appointed time, the bride, on the arm of her father, came up the aisle to the strains of the wedding march looking radiantly pretty and beautifully gowned in French grey crepe de chine with piquant bunches of humming-bird blue and chic hat to match, carrying a magnificent armful of Columbia roses. Her only ornament was an exquisite string of pearls, the gift of the groom.

The church was artistically decorated with roses, marguerites and ferns. Rev. Duncan E Foster performed the ceremony in the presence of the immediate families and old friends and a few out-of-town relatives.

The post nuptial reception was held at Strathmore, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Innes' residence. The latter is a sister of the groom, when the bride and groom received, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Nelles. The rooms were filled with pink snapdragon and roses, making a fitting background for  the wedding party.

After the conclusion of the reception, which was delightfully informal in character, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Nelles, the latter attired in a well-cut navy blue suit and smart navy blue hat, left for a trip to New York and Atlantic City.
