Tavener wed Johnston

The home of Mr. and Mrs. John Johnston, 29 North St., Simcoe, on 23 Dec 1920 at 2.30 p.m., was the scene of a pretty wedding, when their eldest daughter, Carrie Elizabeth, became the bride of Mr. John Edward Tavener of Humber Bay.

The ceremony was conducted by Rev. Duncan E. Foster of Simcoe. Miss Irene VanLoon of Hartford, cousin of the bride, played the wedding march. The bride, who wore a pale pink georgette blouse and tailored navy blue skirt and carried a bouquet of mixed roses and ferns, took her place under an arch of evergreens.

She was attended by Miss Vera Turvey of Simcoe, who was dressed in brown silk, while Percy Johnston, brother of the bride, ably supported the groom. Miss Dora Johnston, sister of the bride, made a charming flower girl.

After the ceremony and congratulations, the guests adjourned to the dining room, which was decorated in red, white and blue, and sat down to a sumptuous wedding dinner.

The gifts were costly annd numerous. Guest were present from Jarvis, Hamilton, Hartford and Simcoe.
