Port Dover
Thursday of last week Alice
Maud Barrett, wife of H. B. Barrett of H. M. Customs, passed away
after several months of severe illness, which was borne with
cheerful fortitude. Mrs. Barrett was born in Port Dover being the
youngest daughter of the late N. B. and Mrs. Scofield.
Mrs. Barrett was an
accomplished elocutionist and her services were always given freely
in the furtherance of any religious or patriotic purpose, or any
plan wehich would lead to the betterment of the village in which she
made her lifelong home.
Cultured, amiable,
thoughtful for others and always cheerful, Mrs. Barrett made many
friends who regret her passing away when but in her fifty-first
year.
She leaves her husband, H.
B. Barrett, three children, Quinton H., Winnifred and Lola, and
three sisters: Mrs. W. Sovereighn of Port Dover, Mrs. S. R. Kennedy
of Toronto, and Mrs. F. W. Denton of Vancouver, to mourn her demise.
