Joseph Culver of Woodhouse is Missing

Simcoe, 16 Dec 1921 -- Joseph Culver, a prosperous Woodhouse township farmer resident six miles east of Simcoe, left home in his working clothes on Tuesday and at last report is mysteriously missing.

He drove to Simcoe with a horse and buggy which he left at Burt's feed barn; was known to have with him cheques from the creamery, and was presumably going to pay his taxes. But he did not call to pay his taxes nor to take his horse from the barn.

He is about 25 years of age, of slight build, dark brown hair, clean shaven face, of clear complexion, and prominent cheek contour. He is not addicted to drinking but smokes a pipe moderately. He is in no financial or domestic difficulty or discord. His disappearance is mysterious.

Culver served overseas through Hill 70, Paschendale and other engagements, the recalling of which he openly avoided. He has recently been in good heath as usual, but had lost somewhat in weight during the past few months. His relatives and friends here are fearful lest he should have suffered a mental breakdown as a result of his experience overseas.
