Atherton

Gloom was cast over this neighborhood on Tuesday of last week when the angel of death visited the home of Mr. George Carrow and claimed for its victim his beloved wife, Edith Adora Burtch, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Burtch.

Deceased was aged 54 years 6 months and 22 days, and was born in the house in which she was married to Mr. Carrow on 12 May 1900. She was a member of Salem Methodist Church, of which she was organist for 33 years. During all that time she was a consistent and helpful member.

Deceased leaves to mourn her loss her husband, to sons, Wilton and Wilfred, aged 16 and 13 years, five sisters and one brother: Mrs. G. Gehring of Delhi,
Mrs. G. Mercel of Windham Centre, 
John Burtch of Delhi, Mrs. F. Moore of Norwich,
Mrs. J. Hillier and Mrs. Geo. Quance of Delhi.

Relatives present from a distance at the funeral were: 
Mrs. Clarl of Font Hill, Mrs. Page of Welland, 
Mr. Thompson of Welland, Geo. Burtch of Dunnville, 
Lloyd Burtch of Francona,
Arthur Carrow and Mrs. Malcolm of Toronto,
and Jas. Mason of Niagara Falls.

The funeral on Friday, 11 Mar 1921, was held from her late residence to Salem Cemetery for interment. Service in the church was conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Stewart. Music was furnished by the Delhi choir, assisted by members of the Salem choir.

The pallbearers were Messrs. Herb. Smith, Fred Smith, Anson Quance, Herb Axford, Frank Cook, 
Judson Franklin, Cyrus Barker and Norman Franklin,
