Erwin-Winter
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
Manuel Winter of Townsend Township, was the scene of a very pleasant
gathering on Thursday, 18 Aug 1910, when Mr. Winter's only daughter,
Carrie, became the wife of Ernest William Erwin, a prosperous young
farmer of Woodhouse Township.
At high noon the ceremony
was performed by Rev. W. E. Mason of Mt. Bridges, uncle of the
groom, on the verandah under an arch of evergreens trimmed with the
various flowers of the season. Guests to the number of 90 were
seated on the lawn. The wedding march was played by Mrs. Walter
Veale, cousin of the groom and bride.
The bride was very
becomingly attired in a dress of cream liberty satin. The groom's
gift to the bride was a beautiful necklace, and to the flower girl,
Miss Lola Burch, a broach. The presents received by the young couple
were many and included much that was costly and beautiful.
After the usual
congratulations and the photographing of the guests by Mr. Butler of
Simcoe, they were invited by the hostess into the spacious dining
room where she had a table laden with the delicacies of the
season. After doing ample justice to this, a very pleasant afternoon
was spent in singing and social intercourse, a time that will not
soon be forgotten by those who were privileged to be present.
The bride's going away suit
was of fawn. The happy couple left on the evening train for the
Thousand Islands and other eastern points.
