The
Late Mrs. Winskell of Little Lake
The death occurred on
Tuesday evening, 23 Nov 1920 of Mary Eliza Rammage, beloved wife
of Prosper Winskell, at her home in Windham Township. She was in
her 72nd year and had been confined to her bed for the past two
weeks with a stroke and other complications.
Mrs. Winskell was a member
of the Little Lake Methodist Church and was a great help and
inspiration in the Sunday School. She was an active member of the
Ladies' Aid and had been president of the Woman's Missionary
Society. For many years she was a successful Sunday School teacher
and the last few years she was an interesting member of the Bible
Class, by her superior knowledge of the Bible.
Mrs. Winskell was born in
Windham Township near Lynnville. She obtained her education in the
Simcoe High School, and taught school for several years. In August
1873 she married Prosper Winskell of Windham and settled on the
farm where she died.
She is survived by her
husband and son Russell William who resides with his father, and
three grandchildren. Daughters Jessie and Mabel predeceased her
when they were 9 and 11 years of age. She is also survived by two
sisters: Mrs. Wm. Jull of Norwich and Mrs. Robson of Paris.
The funeral was held from
her late residence, on Thursday, 24 Nov 1920 at 1:30 p.m., and was
largely attended. The Rev. Mr. Darling, assisted by Rev. Mr.
Ottowell, a former pastor, conducted the service.
The remains were laid to rest in the Bookton Cemetery beside those
of her two daughters.
The pall bearers were six
nephews of the deceased: Howard Jull, Russell Rammage, Fred Lee,
Wm. Winskell, Wilbert Butler and Wm. Winskell of Tillsonburg. The
floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
The late Mrs. Winskell
will be sadly missed in the home where she always had the welfare
of her family at heart. The family have the sympathy of the whole
neighborhood in their sad bereavement.
