Wilcox-Roberts
Brantford Expositor
-- A pretty wedding took place on Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock at
the home of Mrs. Walter Roberts, 39 Palmerston avenue, when her
daughter, Constance, became the bride of Dr. George Allen Wilcox of
this city, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Wilcox of Waterford.
The bride, who was given
away by her brother, looked charming in her gown of canton crepe
with court train. She wore a tulle veil, wreathed with orange
blossoms, and carried a very lovely shower bouquet of mauve sweet
peas, orchids and Ophelia roses.
She was attended by her
sister, Miss Margaret Roberts, who was attired in a most becoming
gown of orchid organdie. Four nieces of the bride, Marion, Isolbel
and Blanche Brewster and Marjorie Jordan, carried white wands
garlanded with smilax and topped with French nosegays, and formed a
ribbon aisle for the bride.
Rev. J. D. Fitzpatrick,
assisted by B. W. Merrill of Toronto, uncle of the groom, performed
the ceremony, which took place in the living room, artistically
decorated with banks of peonies and roses. The room was lighted with
the soft glow of many candles and the wedding party took their
places as Mr. Henri K. Jordan played the wedding march.
Mrs. Roberts, mother of the
bride, wore a gown of maize-colored georgette, veiled with amethysts
and a corsage bouquet of mauve sweet peas and orchids. Mrs. Wilcox,
mother of the groom, was gowned in black teffeta trimmed with
Spanish lace and wore a corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Hutchinson,
grandmother of the bride looked sweet in a black charteuse gown.
The bride's going away
costume was a smart wrap of mohair velour. Dr. and Mrs. Wilcox left
by motor for the Raycroft in New York state. Guests were present
from Rutland, Vermont, Buffalo, Toronto, Hamilton, Waterford and St.
Thomas.
