C. C. Whalen Dead

Mr. C. C. Whalen, an organizer of the High Court for Central Ontario of Independent Order of Foresters, and former resident of Waterford, died at Grace Hospital in Toronto, Tuesday morning.

He was stricken with paralysis at Owen Sound a few days ago while addressing a court of the order in that town. Last week he was brought to Toronto and taken to Grace Hospital. The shock deprived him of the power of speech, and from the first his condition was regarded as hopeless. Everything possible was done to restore him, but medical efforts were in vain. His wife and daughter were at his bedside when he passed away.

Mr. Whalen was 48 years of age. For several years past he had been engaged in organization work with the Independent Order of Foresters, and his labors were [marked] with success. His service as organizer were in almost constant demand and his success was in no small degree due to his untiring energy and enthusiasm. His loss will be deeply felt by Foresters.
