Irwin-Stilwell
A pretty June wedding took
place at "Meadow Brook Place," the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Elwin Stilwell, south of Tillsonburg, on Wednesday, 22 Jun 1921 at
high noon, when their daughter, Pearl Winnifred, was united in
marriage to Mr. Ellis G. Irwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Irwin of
Tyrrell. Rev. R. Jones officiated.
Miss Olive Stilwell and Mrs.
Chas. McCoy, sisters of the bride, received the guests which
numbered 140.
Mrs. Chas. McCoy played the
Bridal Chorus as the dainty little bride, leaning on the arm of the
groom, took their places. During the signing of the register, Mr.
Nickolus Stilwell, brother of the bride, sang "Until,"
accompanied with violin by Mr. Leo Stilwell.
Following the ceremony the
many friends offered congratulations. The guests gathered in the
dining room and on the porch, where the wedding breakfast was
served. The wedding gifts were numerous and beautiful, including a
handsome sum of money with a cheque from the bride's father.
Later Mr. and Mrs. Irwin
left amid showers of confetti, motoring to Ingersoll, where they
took the train for Toronto, Belleville and down the St. Lawrence
river to Quebec. The bride travelled in a navy blue serge suit with
hat and veil to match.
Guests were present from
London, Windsor, Detroit, Flint, Mich., Clifford, Mich., Brantford,
Niagara Falls, Simcoe, Tyrrell, Waterford, Walsingham Centre and
Belleville.
