Waterford Boy Married

-- A wedding of unusual interest throughout the valley took place
in New York Tuesday, when Mrs. Bertha Mills Stewart, daughter of
Alexander H. Mills, and Dr. Alonzo Barton Foster, both of this
village, were united in marriage. The ceremony, which took
place at 9 a.m., at Hotel Cumberland, 54th street and Broadway,
was performed by Rev. J. Collings Oaton of Brooklyn, formerly
pastor of the Reformed church of this village.
The only other persons
present were Alexander H. Mills and Mrs. Stetson Leach, father and
sister of the bride, Mills Stewart being unable to reach there in
time on account of his boat being delayed. Mrs. Stewart and her
father arrived in New York a few days since, after spending
several weeks at Dayton, Fla., and other southern points.
Immediately following the
ceremony Dr. and Mrs. Foster left on a 10-day wedding trip to
Detroit, Michigan and Waterford, where they will visit the
former's people.
The bride, who is a most
attractive personality, is prominent in the social circles of the
valley and takes a leading part in the affairs of the Reformed
church and and Laura M. Starin Industrial School of which she is
first directress.
Dr. Foster who is a native
of Canada, has been located in Fonda for the past 20 years and
enjoys a large practice, having fully demonstrated his ability as
a physician and surgeon and is popular among all classes. He is a
graduate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario,
also of Homeopathic College and has been the recipient of numerous
political and fraternal honors.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Foster
have the best wishes of a host of friends for their future
happiness. Upon returning from their honeymoon, they will reside
at the Mills residence on Broadway, where they will be at home to
their friends after June 1st.
