Wedding Bells
Elston-Spain

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Spain of Port Dover, 8 Aug 1910, when their eldest daughter, Emily Matilda, was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Richard S. Elston of Flint. The Rev. Canon Hicks, M.A. of Simcoe, preformed the ceremony, assisted by Rev. Mr. Vair.

Promptly at 2:30 the bride entered the parlor to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march played by Miss May Quanbury. The bride looked charming in white mull and carried an ivory prayer book. She was attended by her sister, Miss Kate Spain, who was attired in mauve mull and carried roses. Mr. Fred Powell of Fort William supported the groom.

The groom's gift to the bride was a handsome gold watch and fob; to the bridesmaid a pearl broach, and to the best man pearl cuff links. After the ceremony, the guests, numbering about 50, proceeded to the dining room where a sumptuous repast was served. The young couple were the recipients of many useful gifts, showing the high esteem in which they were held.

Mr. and Mrs. Elston left on the five o'clock train for Buffalo en route to Flint where they will reside.
