Waterford

The death took place at Battle Creek, Mich., on 1 Nov 1920 of Mrs. Eliza Rice, aged 72 years, relict of J. H. Rice.

About two years ago deceased suffered a stroke from which she seemed to recover almost entirely, but again last May another stroke overcame her, and she was never able to be up after that except for a few minutes at a time.

After a prayer meeting at the home of the late Mrs. Rice, 127 Orchard Place, Battle Creek, at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, the remains were conveyed via the G.T.R. to Brantford, and thence by the T.H.&B. to Waterford, Thursday morning.

The funeral took place from the home of Mrs. J. H. Stanford, niece of the deceased, Thursday at 3 p.m., and the remains wer interred in Greenwood Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. J. D. McLachlan, assisted by Rev. J. B. Moore.

Many floral tributes attested to the high esteem in which the late Mrs. Rice was held.

The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Tenna Smith, and one son, Arthur D. Rice, and one granddaughter, Miss Margaret Smith, of Battle Creek, Mich., all of whom accompanied the remains.

Mrs. Elijah Hellyer of Townsend Centre, Mrs. J. W. Silcox of Eden, and Miss Charlotte Griggs of Mt. Bridges, are surviving sisters of the late Mrs. Rice, and were all able to be present at the funeral.
