Kelly-Owen
Jarvis Record -- St.
Anne's Church, Walpole, was the scene of a quiet but very beautiful
wedding on Wednesday last, at high noon, when Rev. Father Traynor,
united in the holy bonds of matrimony Miss Frances Owen, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Owen of Jarvis, and Mr. Laurence [sic]
Kelly, second son of Crown Attorney W. E. Kelly and Mrs. Kelly of
Simcoe.
The bride, exquisitely
attired in a gown of white duchess satin with silk tulle veil and
orange blossoms, carrying a shower bouquet of Ophelia roses, entered
the church leaning on the arm of her brother, Mr. Douglas Owen, to
the strains of the wedding march delightfully rendered by her
friend, Miss Ella McBrady of Oshawa.
The bride was attended by
her sister, Miss Ella Owen, who wore a gown of white georgette and
silk crepe and picture hat of black mohair and ostrich sprays, and
carried a shower bouquet of Columbia roses. The groom was supported
by one of his many college friends, Mr. Gus O'Shea of Norwood.
Rev. Father Traynor was
assisted on the alter by Messrs. William and Leo Kelly, brothers of
the groom. During the mass, Miss Helen Schust of Toronto sang
"O Salutario" and at the signing of the register, "O,
Mother of God," both of which were beautifully rendered.
After the ceremony, a
reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Mrs. Owen
receiving in a gown of black satin. The happy couple left on the
evening train amid showers of confetti for Toronto and other eastern
points. The bride travelled in a tailored suit of blue and a chic
blue travelling hat. The numerous, very beautiful and useful wedding
gifts testify to the popularity of one of the most prominent young
ladies of Jarvis.
