Nicholls-LaFortune
A very quiet wedding was
solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Whitehead of Simcoe on
Monday morning, 11 Apr 1910, when Miss Alice Florence LaFortune,
youngest sister of Mrs. Whitehead, was united in marriage to Mr.
E. L. Nicholls of Simcoe. Rev. Canon Hicks read the ceremony in
the presence of only the near relatives.
At 9 o'clock the bride
entered the parlour, which was tastefully adorned with palms,
roses and maiden-hair ferns, leaning on the arm of her
brother-in-law, Mr. Whitehead. She was attired in a white silk
poplin gown, made princess fashion, with handsome embroidered
panel. There were no attendants.
After the wedding breakfast
was served, the happy couple left amid showers of confetti on the
morning Wabash for Detroit. Upon their return, they will make
their home in Rodney.
The bride's going away gown
was French broadcloth with black picture hat. She was the
recipient of many handsome and useful gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Nicolls
carry with them wishes for a happy and prosperous life.
