A wedding in which many readers of the Reformer will be
interested, was solemnized on Saturday, 26 Feb 1910 at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. P. George Pearce, Waterford. The contracting parties
were Mr. James B. Hazen of Detroit and Miss Helen Hutchinson
Murdoch, daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Murdoch and Mrs. Murdoch.
The ceremony was timed for one p.m. and promptly at the hour
the bridal party entered the drawing room to the strains of the
wedding march played by Miss Audrey Denton of Tillsonburg, niece
of the groom. Masters Bruce and Clendon Pearce, nephews of the
bride, were flower boy and ring-bearer.
The bride, who was given away by her brother, Dr. Grover
Murdoch of Simcoe, was gowned in her traveling costume, a handsome
gray moire silk and carried a shower bouquet of lily of the valley
and smilax.
After the marriage, which was performed by Rev. P. K. Dayfoot
of Simcoe, and during the signing of the register, Mrs. Burke-Lamb
of Waterford sang "Oh, Promise Me" and "The Spring
Song." Mrs. Lamb was accompanied by Miss McLean of
Woodbridge, who played a piano solo.
The wedding luncheon was a dainty repast, served amid
decorations of carnations and smilax. The presents were useful and
beautiful, tokens of good will from many friends.
At five p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Hazen left for Detroit, where they
will make their home. The Reformer joins in congratulations and
best wishes for a long and happy life.
