Married 59 Years

Sunday 12 Sep 1920 was the 59th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. John Lindabury, 256 Dean Street, Simcoe. The happy couple were married in Welland County, south of Fonthill, in 1861.

Nine years later they came to Windham, and in 1872 settled in Windham Centre, where Mr. Lindabury conducted a general store and the post offiice, with six deliveries a day, at a salary of $34 a year.

In 1874 a large brick dwelling and store building was erected, the first brick building within seven miles of this place.

After 13 years spent in Windham Centre, the family moved on a farm in Charlotteville and a couple of years later came to Simcoe.

For the past 33 years Mr. and Mrs. Lindabury have been regular attendants of the Methodist Church and Sunday School.

The family of two daughters and three sons are all married and away from home, with the exception of Seymour, who resides on Norfolk Street South.

Mr. Lindabury is in his 84th year and says he is an old-time Reformer. Mrs. Lindabury is in her 78th year. Both are enjoying fairly good health.
