Fick-Armstrong

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Armstrong of Rowan Mills, on Wednesday, 11 May 1910, when their eldest daughter, Miss Gladys Armstrong became the bride of Mr. Jas. Fick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Fick.

The ceremony took place at 11 o'clock. The bride was given away by her father and was unattended. Little Miss Nina Calvert acted as flower girl. 

Rev. W. H. Garnham, B.A., B.D., of Port Rowan officiated, while Miss Mabel Chamberlain played Wedding Bells March.

The bride was attired in a dainty Swiss lawn dress trimmed with Valenciennes lace and insertion with white silk directoire sash and wore a wreath of lilies of the valley in her hair and also carried a sheaf of the same. The flower girl look very pretty in a white silk dress and white shoes, carrying the ring basket of pink carnations and satin ribbon.

The groom's gift to the bride was a gold bracelet and too the flower girl a gold wish bone broach set with pearls. Guests were present from Port Dover, Forestville, Port Rowan, Erie View and South Walsingham.

A sumptuous wedding breakfast was served in excellent style and a happy social time followed the ceremony. A number of beautiful and costly wedding gifts testified to the high esteem which is entertained for the bride and groom by their many friends.

The bride travelled in a blue chiffon broadcloth with white silk waist and white chiffon hat. The newly married couple took the noon train for points east amid showers of rice and confetti. On their return they will reside at "Lydden Bach Farm."
