Berry-Shisler

On Wednesday evening, 1 Sep 1920, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Smithbower, [332] James Street North, Hamilton, the wedding of Miss Martha Priscilla Shisler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Shisler of Ridway, Ontario, to Mr. Roy Berry of Simcoe, was celebrated.

Promptly at 8 o'clock, to the strains of the Lohengrin wedding march, played by Miss Bartemus of Tonawanda, N.Y., the bride entered the drawing room leaning on the arm of her brother, Mr. Clarence Shisler of Washington, D.C., who gave her away.

Miss Rhea Berry of Buffalo, sister of  the groom, acted as bridesmaid, while Mr. Wilfred Shisler assisted the groom. Little Paul and Othmar Smithblower carried ribbons, forming an aisle along which the bridal party passed.

The bride looked very sweet in pale blue sink, with bodice of gold lace. She wore the customary veil of tulle, caught with pearls, and a wreath of orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful bouquet of sunset roses.

Miss Rhea Berry looked charming in a gown of pink silk and white crepe meteor, and carried pink and white sweet peas.

After the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. James Bracken of Hughson Street Baptist Church, the guests numbering 35 adjourned to the dining room, where a sumptuous repast was served.

The groom's gift to the bride was a diamond bar pin, to the bridesmaid a pearl pin, and to the best man a stickpin set with pearls.

Among the out-of-town guests were
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Bartemus and daughters Bernice and Evelyn,
Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Redell, all of Tonawonda;
Mr. and Mrs. R. Berry and son Gordon of Simcoe;
Mr. Clarence Shisler of Washington;
Mr. Wilfrid Shisler of Ridgeway;
Mr. J. C. Forse of Detroit.

Mr. and Mrs. Berry will be at home to their friends after 10 Sep 1920, at 352 James Street North, Hamilton.
