Mrs. J. B. Moore recently died at her home in Wellandport from
the effects of heart trouble. The deceased was a sister of Mrs.
Samuel McDowell of this town.
About 25 friends gathered at the home of Mrs. Gerald Reid on
the evening of 22 Jun 1910 and presented Mr. and Mrs. George Reid
with a handsome couch as a wedding present. Ice cream, cake and
lemonade were served.
While bathing in the mill pond west of Langton on Friday, Les
Foster, 19, son of Wm. Foster of Langton, drowned. Dr. Truman
pronounced heart failure the cause. Foster was a good swimmer.
The annual garden party in aid of St. John's Cemetery Fund will
be held at the residence of William Trinder, opposite St. John's
Church, Woodhouse, on 6 Jul 1910, 39th Regiment Band in
attendance. Admission 10¢. Refreshments extra.
The marriage of Harvey Falls' niece, Miss Muriel German to Mr.
W. E. Apted, took place yesterday in College Street Methodist
Church, Toronto. Mrs. Apted is the daughter of Rev. Dr. German and
Mrs. German.
James Whitside, postmaster of Delhi, and a former merchant of
that place, is lying very ill. But faint hope of his recovery is
held out.
He is nearly 80 and his advanced age militates against
him.
Among those who have passed the final year's exams of the
Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons are Julian Boyd of
Simcoe and
Wm. Hutchison of Port Rowan. Harold Buck of Port Rowan
and
Wm. Dey of Simcoe succeeded in their intermediate exams.
Mrs. John Garland, mother of Earl Ball, has received her
victim's family settlement from the loss of the ferry he was
working on.
She received the month's wages due him at the time of
his death:
$31, and his portion of the lum sum aside: $90.
