David D. Wood

-- The funeral of the late David D. Wood, an old and respected resident of this place, who died on Friday last, took place from his late residence, Sylvia St., on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was largely attended.

Services were conducted at the house by the Rev. C. Deacon, pastor of the Methodist Church, after which the funeral cortege proceeded to Greenwood cemetery, where the remains were interred in the family plot.

Deceased was borne [sic] in the Township of Windham on the 23rd of April 1825, where he lived until 1868, acting as bailiff for some years, when he removed to Danville, Pa., where he resided eleven years, but his love for his own country caused him to return with his family and settle in Waterford, where he has lived up to the present.

For some years his health had been failing, but was not alarming until two months ago when dropsy set in, which quickly did its work. He was a great sufferer, but was always patient and cheerful.

Deceased leaves behind a widow, one son and one daughter to mourn his loss, who have the sympathies of their many friends in their bereavement.
