Atherton

A gloom was cast over this neighborhood on Thursday when it was learned that the Angel of Death had again visited our midst during the night and took Mrs. Mary Williams, one of our oldest and most highly respected citizens.

Mrs. Williams will be greatly missed in this community especially in the church and Sunday School, for she was a member who seldom ever missed for nearly 40 years. Her life was devoted to her family and to the work she felt her Master wished her to do.

Mrs. Williams was apparently in good health and did not appear to have suffered any, but just simply went to sleep in perfect peace with her Savior.

The deceased who was in her 63rd [sic] year, was born in Bimbrook, in the year 1852, and leaves to mourn her loss three sons, Hilliard, Harvey and Laverne Ecker of Hamilton; two daughters, Mrs. M. Street of this place, and Mrs. Lawrence Pake of Wyecombe; two brothers, Charles Bush of Hall's Corners, and Thomas Bush of Ancaster, and one sister, Mrs. Hiram Lowden, of this place. The bereaved relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community for she was loved and respected by all who knew her.

The funeral took place from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Street, and she was laid to rest in Salem Cemetery on Sunday last, the Rev. A. Hurlbut have charge of the services.
