Born in Townsend

The following from the Grimsby Independent
refers to the death of Mrs. Lewis, the aged mother of Mr. E. W. Lewis.

"Mrs. Isaac L. Lewis died at her home her on Sunday evening, after about a week's illness, in her 84th year.

Deceased was one of the oldest resident of this village and section, having spent upwards of 40 years in this vicinity.

She was born in Townsend, Norfolk County, being a daughter of the late Richard Wilcox, one of the U. E. Loyalists who would serve under no other flag but that of the United Empire.

On June 3rd, 1850, she was married to Mr. Lewis, and since that time she and her husband had never been separated more than three days at any one period.

A husband and three children are left to mourn her loss, viz: Miss Kate Lewis of Grimsby; C. B., of Prescott, and E. W. of Burlington.
