The
sympathy of hosts of friends goes out to Mrs. Lorne L. Thompson in
the sudden death of her husband on Monday night, after a married
life of little more than three weeks.
The marriage took place on
Friday, Feb. 14. Miss Mary Spencer went down to Toronto Tuesday
morning to stay with her sister. The funeral is held at Meaford this
afternoon at 2 o'clock.
One of the Toronto papers has
this to say of the sad affair:
Lorne L. Thompson, a
well-known young broker of Toronto died here suddenly at his home,
[77] Palmerston avenue, Monday night shortly after returning from a
visit to his brother Mr. Blake Thompson on [Forbar] road.
The late Mr. Thompson was
only 28 years of age, and had just returned to Toronto after a
three-week honeymoon trip.
Until a month ago he was
connected with the firm of Campbell, Thompson & Co., bond
brokers, but resigned with the intention of going into the brokerage
business for himself.
He was married to Miss
Gertrude Spencer of Simcoe and after the honeymoon they took up
their residence on Palmerston avenue.
When he left his brother's
home with Mrs. Thompson shortly after 11 o'clock the young man was
apparently quite well but just after entering his own house he was
stricken with apoplexy and died within a few minutes.
Dr. T. J. Page was summoned
but life was extinct when he arrived. Dr. A. J. Johnson, chief
cororner, was notified but he decided than an inquest was
unnecessary.
