Mrs. John Tennant

St. Williams: Mrs. John Tennant passed away suddenly at the home of Mrs. Harold Madole on Monday at the age of 84 years.

Although she had not been in good health for several years her sudden passing came as a shock to the community.

She was born in Dunnville, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. J. Woods and when only an infant her mother passed away. She was then adopted by the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Moodle of Dunnville.

They moved to Canfield and later she was married to Mr. John Tennant of Brantford.

They then took up residence in Tavistock and Marshville[. More] than 50 years ago they moved to St. Williams, where the late Mr. Tennant was the first station agent for a great many years. They built a new home near the station, where Mr. Tennant predeceased her three years ago.

The only surviving members of the family are her two adopted daughters, Mrs. Leighton Brown of Sudbury and Clara of London. They were unable to be present, the former being injured in an accident and the latter being ill.

She was a devoted member of the Baptist church and Sunday school, holding the office of treasurer for a great many years. She was a valued member of the Ladies' Aid and Mission Circle.

The funeral was held from the home of Mrs. George Price on Wednesday to the Baptist Church, Rev. E. C. South officiating. Interment was in Newkirk Cemetery.
