Temperance Meeting
A
meeting of the friends of Temperance was held at the Windham Meeting
House, on Saturday evening, November 7th, 1840.
A pledge and constitution was read by Joseph Tilney, and carried
unanimously. After which it was signed by 50 persons, and the
following individuals were chosen officers:--
I. W. Powell, Esq. -- President
John M. Colver [sic] -- Vice President
McFarlane Whooley [sic] -- Vice President
Joseph Tilney -- Secretary
R. Colver [sic], D. Colver [sic], J. McIntosh,
J. Widner and P. O. Carr -- acting committee.
