Aged Lady Dead
The mirth and
happiness of this usually joyous season was [...ch] clouded for
Messrs. William and John Sutton, who last week received a telegram
apprising them of their mother's serious illness. Before they could
reach her home in Chicago death had intervened.
Mrs. Sutton had
always enjoyed good health, in spite of her great age of 86 years, and
it was only for the last few days that she become ill. Death was due
to old age, and mercifully she suffered little, practically sleeping
away on Friday last.
Mrs. Sutton,
whose husband, Mr. Benjamin Sutton, predeceased her a great many years
ago, was born in England, coming to this country 55 years ago,
settling first in Dorchester, and later in Ingersoll. Twenty-five
years ago she went to Chicago and made her home there with her eldest
daughter, Mrs. White.
Nine children
were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sutton, seven of who are living. They are
William and John, Simcoe; Benjamin of Hamilton; Joseph, Mrs. White,
Mrs. Ireland and Mrs. Sherman, all of Chicago. Frank of Waterford and
Mrs. Hill of Chicago died some years ago.
The funeral
services were held on Sunday, the four sons being pallbearers. The
flowers were numerous and beautiful, and were sent by many
friends, who will miss Mrs. Sutton extremely. The two son in this town
have the sumpathy of their many friends.
