Died in New Mexico

Miss Nellie Steinhoff, Daughter of the Late Orlando Steinhoff of Townsend, Succumbed to Complication of Diseases.

The untimely death of a former resident of Townsend, occurred on 6th Dec, 1916, at Albuquerque, New Mexico, when Miss Nellie Steinhoff, youngest child of the late Orlando Steinhoff  and Ella Steinhoff of the O'Carr Hill, Townsend Township, just east of Simcoe, passed away in the 30th year of her age.

Miss Steinhoff was a victim of the dread white plague, contracted while living in Chicago, and for six years has [been] making a heroic fight for her life in the wonderful air of New Mexico but when appendicitis added its horrors to the weakened body the combination proved too strong and she succumbed after the most intense suffering.

The deceased was born in Simcoe, March 10th, 1887, and leaves to mourn her loss four sisters, Mrs. C. L. Slifer, who has been her constant companion and help in New Mexico; Mrs. Lora Tibbetts, Miss Maud Steinhoff, and Mrs. Jack Stevenson of Chicago, and one brother, George W. Steinhoff of Clio, Mich.

The remains were brought to Simcoe in the care of Mrs. Tibbetts and Mr. Steinhoff and the funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 23rd, from the home of a cousin, Mrs. Lillian Steinhoff, with Rev. W. H. Garnham officiating. Interment was made in the family plot at Oakwood Cemetery.
