On
Monday, Feb. 7th Mrs. Betty Pratten, who has been ailing
considerably the past few years, was smitten with paralysis and
without ever regaining consciousness lingered until the early hours
of Sunday morning, when she passed peacefully away at the advanced
age of eighty-three years.
The deceased was the relict
of the late Isaac Pratten, who died in Walpole Township in the year
1897.
The late Mrs.
Pratten, with her daughter Mary, then moved to Waterford, where they
have since resided.
Mrs.
Pratten was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, known far
and wide and beloved by everyone, for no matter who was in need of
help Mrs. Pratten was, if at all possible, ready to render
assistance and speak words of consolation to the sorrowing.
The
departed is survived by three sons: Fred of Nanticoke; Arthur of
Portland, Oregon; Watson of Milton, North Dakota; and three
daughters, Mrs. Long of Nanticoke, Mrs. Robertson of Portland, Ore.,
and Miss Pratten of Waterford; and also a number of grandchildren.
To
these sorrowing relatives the sincerest sympathy is extended.
The
funeral took place from the deceased's late residence, Leamon
Street, Waterford, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. After a short service at the
house the remains were conveyed to the home of her son Fred, at
Nanticoke, where a service was held. Services were conducted by Rev.
H. Caldwell and interment in the Nanticoke cemetery.
Mr.
Arthur Pratten and Mrs. Robertson of Portland, Oregon, and Mr.
Watson Pratten of North Dakota, were unable to attend their mother's
funeral.
Messrs. Waldo
Pratten of Woodstock, Wray of Peterborough and George of Hamilton,
attended their grandmother's funeral on Tuesday.
