The Late Miss May Smith

After a long and painful illness, Miss May Smith died at her home in Delhi on Thursday, March 18, in her 39th year.

Several years ago her father, Mr. Eli Smith, died, leaving the mother and six children with the care of the farm, which was the Peter Cline property one mile south of Delhi.

Miss Smith was of a quiet reserved manner away from home, but in her home one saw a very bright, cheerful disposition. She had always a kind word for neighbor and friend. She made friends slowly, but her friends were those that remained most firmly so.

Miss May is the first of the family of six children to be taken away by the grim reaper. Her absence will be sorely felt by all, but most heavily upon the mother will the bereavement fall, since the two have been living together for some time, all the other children being in homes of their own.

Those left to mourn, besides the mother, are two sisters, Mrs. William Holloway and Mrs. Charles Street, of Woodhouse; and three brothers, Roy and Robert of Alberta, and Geo. A., in Delhi.

The funeral took place in Delhi on Saturday, March 20, interment being made in the Delhi Cemetery.
