Gone to his long rest

Delhi -- Mr. Egbert Owen, a prominent citizen of Delhi, died suddenly in Hamilton on Saturday morning, heart failure being the cause of death.

Mr. Owen left Delhi a week ago last Monday and was in Hamilton only six days when death claimed him. The news came as a shock to his many friends here.

Mr. Owen was born in Delhi 64 years ago, and had spent the greater part of his life in this county.

He was a journalist and was connected with several different newspapers at different periods. He was the author of "Pioneer Sketches of Long Point Settlement," a book which has made the author famous. His latest work, "Profit and Pleasure," has just been completed.

Besides a sorrowing widow the deceased is survived by one son, Mr. Ernest Owen of Pittsburg, Pa., and three daughters, Mrs. Meleville Moran Smith of Detroit,
Mrs. H. S. Monteith of St. Ignace, and Mrs. T. E. Morgan of Delhi.

The funeral took place on Monday afternoon from the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. E. Morgan.
